ABOUT

I’m Maia Hirasawa — a Swedish Japanese artist, songwriter, and producer. I started out as a musician and background singer for Hello Saferide, and released my self-produced debut album Though, I’m Just Me in 2007, featuring the singles And I Found This Boy and Gothenburg.

Since then, I’ve become part of both the Swedish and Japanese music scenes. What began as a short break in Japan in 2010 turned into an unexpected career there, with the hit singles Boom and It Doesn’t Stop in 2011. Boom became a fight song for the people affected by the earthquake and tsunami that same year.

In 2023, I released my eighth album, If This Is The End It Sure Is A Beautiful One, on my own label — a mix of songs in Swedish and English, created together with several producers, including myself.

I sing in Swedish, English, and Japanese — and I’ll keep doing so.
Alongside my own releases, I compose music for films and commercials, mostly in Japan.

Right now, I'm releasing new music from my upcoming album 25 Days — eleven songs that use the menstrual cycle as an emotional and creative map, out January 29, 2027. New singles are dropping through the fall, and I'll be touring Sweden in spring/summer 2027.
